Soldier was our first
Malamute and oh how we were spoilt. We knew even when he was
eight weeks old that he was going to be a very special boy. We
were so proud to bring him home in August 1998.
Soldier loves to please
and doesn't expect something for nothing. Show him a treat and
he'll always look at you as if to say "Well, What do you want me
to do for it?"
His temperament is superb,
a typical Arctictrek - Sound in everyway. Soldier loves to talk
to you and can even open and shut doors. We took him to many
rallies when he was younger even then his desire to work in
harness was enormous. He is a fantastic working dog. Who gives
110% every time. He doesn't mind whether he runs on his own or
as part of a team.
Although only shown
occasionally he's never let us down.
In October 2000 we were
approached by Jan Sapsford of the Dankatchas Kennel who
expressed an interest in using Soldier with her bitch Tahnee.
It was something we'd never thought about before. We took our
time thinking about it, after all temperament and standard of
the breed was important and we didn't want Soldier to change in
anyway. Tahnee was an excellent bitch again from Arctictrek so
we agreed.
In January 2001 Tahnee
gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies. Several of these puppies
have been successful in the show ring and on the trail.
In 2008 Soldier sired our very first litter.
We were so proud of him and the pups were of him. He was
such a good Dad!
Subject to Approval Soldier has now passed
his Working Dog Team title which now means we can add the
letters WTD after his name!

Our desire to own another
Malamute came sooner than we expected, we were very patient and
waited almost two years. Due to the high quality of breeding
there was no doubt in our minds where we should get our second
malamute. We went back to Arctictrek.
We've always liked Abby
and were delighted when Barbara said we could have a puppy from
Abby's litter.
Willow came to us in July
2000. What an absolute darling. Soldier was just as excited as
we were. Princess and Jack loved her as well.
She has a wonderful nature
and sees the good in everyone whether they have two legs or
four.
Unfortunately Willow was
never shown but has all the qualities one could want in a
malamute. Although her working enthusiasm wasn't there as early
as Soldier's she enjoyed working in harness and backpacking just
the same. The summer of 2006 saw Willow taking up Agility. She
was a natural, something I sure she gets from her Mother Abby,
We think Agility is something Willow could really grow to love,
possibly more than working in Harness!
Willow has accompanied us
on several school and club visits. She has made even the most
frightened child overcome their fear of dogs. For this we are
extremely proud.

Shadow came to us in the
winter of 2001. She was three years old. We've known her since
she was an eight week old puppy. Paul trained her up and ran
his first season with her and Soldier. Soldier adores her.
Her previous owners could
no longer work their dogs and as she was still so young it
seemed unfair on her. As we've always been fond of Shadow we
agreed to take her on.
Soldier and Shadow always
enjoyed running together so it was great to see them back in
harness once again.
Although Shadow took up
showing quite later on at four years of age she's been
incredible. She's been placed in nearly every show she's
entered, gained several Best of Breeds and those shows she's not
been placed in she's been short listed.
What a Star!!!
So, Who says you can't
teach old dogs new tricks?

Arctictrek's Lady in
Red

Kody came to us in March
2003 once again from Arctictrek. What a little cracker! Kody is
the first Siberian we've owned from a puppy and boy did she keep
us on our toes. She managed to strip our entire kitchen floor
of floor tiles in no time at all. She is affectionately known
as Kody Chew at home. She is mischievous but loving. She is
really Ryan's dog but we all love her. She was very impatient
working wise and couldn't wait to get in harness. Once she did,
boy there was no stopping her. Ryan started to run her towards
the end of 2004/2005 and they worked very well together. Kody is
one of the most important dogs on Paul's team. She is his lead
dog. They say "True Lead dogs are born and not made" how true
this statement is as it was obvious from the start where she was
going to be. This season Kody along with Blizzard had
helped Ryan gain 3rd Place in the ABSA Junior Championship!
Millie - Arctictrek's Soul Sister for Weyekin

Arctictrek's Solar Eclipse

We wanted a very special
bitch, of top quality who will be come the Foundation for the
Weyekin Kennel. She needed to have a superb temperament, She
needed to be of correct size, she needed to have all the
qualities we love in malamutes with the final ingredient having
a great character. So, where would we find such a pup? With
Barbara of course and she didn't disappoint us!
Millie is a dream, an
absolute doll. She settled in with us so well and already has a
huge fan club.
Millie loves
to be with you and please you all the time, she's a right
chatter box, always woo wooing!!
Millie has a sixth sense and senses when you
are not feeling yourself. We've never experienced it
before only read about it. It's really is something to
see!

Blizzard breezed in to our
lives in the Summer of 2006. She is the coolest girl we know, a
real sweetheart who loves to be active but at the same time
enjoys all the home comforts which include a good snuggle up
when watching TV in the evening. When she arrived at our home
she was treated by the others in the pack in the way in which
Shadow was when she first arrived, as if she was always meant to
be here. Millie struck up a great friendship with her and they
are never far away from each other. She has incredible
strength, possibly a natural for Weight Pull. Blizzard had a
mixed season during the 2006/2007 season, she ran as part of a
two dog, three dog and four dog team and worked incredibly
hard. She didn't seem to mind who she ran with or where on the
team she was placed as long as she could run! We are so pleased
with her working attitude and abilities. While Natalia was
training Kira with the flyball box one day we noticed Blizzard
watching out of the lounge window. When Kira had finished her
training session we brought Blizzard out to see what she'd make
of it. To our surprise she worked it out more or less straight
away and loves it!
Trooper - Weyekin's Jesse James
Arctictrek's Storm Trooper at Weyekin

Arctictrek's Soul Sister for Weyekin

Trooper was our first
born puppy and is so much like his Dad. Although we told
ourselves "No more Boys!" he soon changed our minds. He has such
a huge character and is so loving. He is very proud of his Dad
and loves to go out walking with him. Already Trooper has shown
us that he has the same drive and determination when working in
Harness. He has also done extremely well in the show ring.
At present Trooper is working on his Working Team Dog title WTD.
He only has one more leg to go to complete the challenge.
Hopefully he will get this next season.

From just a couple of
weeks old Wynona proved she was going to be a very special young
lady. At 11 weeks old it was evident that she had inherited some
of her mothers wonderful qualities such as her calming
influence, keen to learn and eager to please and very, very
affectionate. She's got a good working attitude and has turned
Ruth from Musher's Mate to Musher!
Kaiser - Warrior of the Night among Weyekin

Kaiser came to us as a rehome at 7 months of
age. He is a very intelligent dog. It didn't take
him long to pass his Basic Obedience. He loves
Clicker Training and has excelled himself at Target work. He has
enjoyed learning to work in harness. He has now
joined Trooper, Kody and Blizzard
and become part of Paul's team for the 2009/2010 season.
His first Race was at Yately Heath. Paul said he was
Awesome! He came first running in Ryan's team with Kody in
J1. Not bad for your first race!
